Hey Youth leaders!

One thing I know for sure is that our young people need more than advice. They need honest conversations, trusted adults, practical resources, exposure, accountability, and opportunities to put what they learn into action.

That is why I am excited to officially open registration for Swanson Family Academy’s Next Level Youth Leadership Academy, Self Love Care and Practice.

This six session fall intensive is for students in Grades 8 through 12. We will focus on:

✨ Whole person health and emotional regulation

✨ Healthy relationships, consent, and sexual health

Next Level Youth Leadership Academy Is Coming This Fall

Swanson Family Academy is preparing to welcome high school students in Grades 9 through 12 into a six week Youth Leadership Academy experience beginning Tuesday, October 13.

This cohort will include two learning tracks within one community:

Grades 9 and 10 will focus on self awareness, confidence, habits, friendships, peer pressure, healthy relationships, sexual health, career exposure, practical skills, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.

Grades 11 and 12 will focus on employment, internships, resumes, interviews, professional communication, college applications, FAFSA, scholarships, college testing, financial planning, and preparing for life after high school.

Students will participate in three virtual sessions and three hands on library labs between October 13 and November 17. They will complete practical activities, build a personal portfolio, create a clear next step plan, and earn Level One Village Leader recognition.

Welcome to the Village, Hillman Experience Families

Today, Swanson Family Academy had the opportunity to connect with families through the College Girl Foundation and DPR at the Hillman Experience.

I believe nothing happens by accident. The village we want to see is the village we must intentionally create, build, and maintain. Today, we took another step toward creating that village.

To every family we met, welcome. We may have arrived as strangers, but we left connected. When we see one another again, we are family. I look forward to building meaningful relationships, learning more about your families, and creating opportunities that respond to the real needs of our community.

This fall, Swanson Family Academy is preparing to launch our Youth Leadership Academy Fall Cohort, Soulful Women’s Collective Fall Reset, and Village Learning Lab Resident Economic Empowerment Program.

As we move into summer, we want to hear from our village.

What is one goal you have for yourself or your family this summer?

Whether it’s saving money, learning a new skill, reading more, spending quality time with family, improving your health, or simply finding more balance, we would love to hear it.

We also want to encourage our youth and families to make this a summer of growth. Visit a museum. Read a new book. Learn a trade. Explore a new hobby. Volunteer. Take a class. Challenge yourself to learn something new.

We are excited to share that Village Learning Lab launches next week! 🎉

Village Learning Lab will provide opportunities for youth and families to build literacy, technology, leadership, workforce readiness, financial literacy, and life skills together.

As you head into summer, remember this:

This past Saturday, Swanson Family Academy celebrated the completion of our six week Youth Leadership Academy cohort with an end of cohort experience at Lucky Strike.

Our youth spent six weeks building confidence, strengthening communication, setting goals, discussing relationships, exploring entrepreneurship, preparing for their futures, and learning what it means to be supported by a village. We closed the cohort with bowling, food, laughter, and fellowship.

We are proud of the entire cohort for their participation, growth, and commitment. This is what it means to Bring Back the Village. The program may have ended, but the relationships, mentorship, and support will continue. We remain committed to showing up for our young people, connecting them to opportunities, and reminding them that they do not have to navigate life alone.
